This week has been about filling mail art subscriptions (it is the beginning of the month after all) and managing my inventory of collaged ovals, the ones that comprise the piece, "An Unhealthy Obsession with Geography." I showed it last at The Front late 2014 through early 2015. (Click on "Recent Work" for installation views.) Since then, it has been in pieces all over our house. I am delighted to report that a friend in a major American city wants to purchase 15 for her office so that prompted me to organize and document them once and for all.
Storing them has been part of the challenge. Some are on long cables; some are not. They are grouped by category in three different rooms! It feels great to get my head around this body of work.
File this under "bizarre" and, perhaps, "viral" - ? This postcard to a dear friend that I snail mailed and posted to tumblr a year ago has over 28K likes and reblogs! You never know what is going to catch the fancy of users and/or followers. It's nuts.
And then there was George Nelson. When I picked him up at daycare on Thursday he was wearing beads! I walked over there due to parade traffic and snapped this shot of him on the walk home. This is about as festive as we are going to get this carnival. I'm going to sit this one out for no other reason than I don't need anymore plastic beads and I'm not in the mood to beg for a shoe covered in glitter and puffy paint.
