This is what happens when you deep clean your studio...you find work you forgot you ever made! I was still a youngish teacher in 2004 (well, I had been at my school for 5 years and that was the first time I had ever stayed that long at a job!) and I was trying to make work in our tiny New York City apartment on the Upper East Side. Due to limited studio space (which was nothing more than a desk really) and limited time (since I was throwing everything I had at honing my skills as an educator) I thought I'd work small. 2" x 2" to be exact. This is from a series I am calling "Fits and Starts" because it would be another three years before I had the (emotional and physical) space, time, bandwidth, wherewithal, to work at this scale every single day.
