Heddie Jane Robertson is the first single lady (but certainly not the last!) to be featured this month and you will find her quite extraordinary. She works full time as a manicurist and keeps a tidy studio apartment in what she assures us is an up and coming neighborhood. Never mind that it's a fourth floor walk-up because it keeps Ms. Robertson in shape for her real passion: Roller Derby. At first glance, one might think she is a bit on the timid side but in fact Ms. Robertson is fierce. Her derby name? Heddie Banger.
When not on the flat track, Ms. Robertson volunteers during pledge week at her local public television station answering the phones to take your money.
When it's party time, Ms. Robertson is a one-hit wonder with her Tea Party Punch. Her secret? She uses the fresh juice of Meyer Lemons from the tree she grows in a large pot on her balcony. Along with her quad skates, it is Ms. Robertson's prized possession.
Tea Party Punch
Lemon Juice - fresh, frozen or canned: ½ cup
Frozen Orange Juice: 2 six-ounce cans
Pineapple Juice: 1 cup
Marashino Cherry Juice: ¼ cup
Chilled Ginger Ale: 2 quarts
Booze: add to taste
Mix all ingredients together except the ginger ale. When ready to serve, pour juices over ice and add ginger ale.
This actually sounds pretty good.
